How to write and prepare your CV

We have all seent the templates and the advice given on The One Show, but what makes your CV stand out, really? One example (true story):

A man applied for a job and sent his CV by post. On the covering letter, he wrote to the interviewer saying he knows that many applications must have been read so he, the interviewer, should relax. Enclosed in the envelope was a bag of the interviewer's favourite tea which the applicant knew through his own research. The man, although underqualified, got the job.

Any other ideas or stories such as this will be greatly appreciated.

Advice for if you Do Lose Your Job
  • Stay positive, fortune favours the brave and focused
  • Dont drink yourself into oblivion, it destroys ones focus, even it feels good at the time
  • If you still have a job, save all information which makes you valuable, save a for the rainy days ahead, get mortgage insurance (if your lucky enough to have a house), and apply for another job, as its unlikely your new employer will fire you within the first year, unless you’re incapable... not much you can do then.
  • Catch up with old friends
  • Catch up with admin which has been not been attended to for the last year
  • keep fit and well dressed, just because you lose your job doesn’t mean you have to lose yourself
